So I finally got out on a trip with my new to me truck. All went pretty good except for a couple things
If I am in low range of a gear and I coast it will kinda go into neutral. If I have the jake on it will bang and clunk violently. If I am in hi range no issues. Transmission shifts perfectly otherwise.
Other thing is that the jake seems to have no power. Like it is on the 2 cylinder mode even when it is on high
Any thoughts?
Weird transmission issue

We need more information, model of Volvo, make of engine, trans, etc.
RustyBolt Thanks this. -
Not sure about the coasting thing but is the banging and clunking during up shifts? If so, the jake is the problem; don't have it on during up shifts. It can also mess up downshifts if you don't get it right.

It shifts like a dream though with the kale on or off. Which is what really confuses me.

Sounds like an auto doing what they do at lo speed when creeping downhill...like say stop and go traffic jam type situation. Just one more reason I prefer a manual..total control.

Sounds to me like a problem in the back box. If it was mine I would pull the back box, rear section of the transmission, and check it out.
Poor Jake performance is unrelated.
What is kale on or off?Morkable Thanks this. -
Lol. That is supposed to be Jake. Darn spell check
