Notice guy filming is clearly more concerned about his own bike...very slowly, methodically rests it up against a planter while his friend, who just got struck/cheated death is in the background moaning in pain...

Why the heck were the bikes riding the lanes?!? No courtesy for trucks OR 4 wheelers?! I mean, seriously. They can ride EITHER shoulder; we CAN'T! He signaled ... a bit too late. Dang. Lucky to be alive.
I agree with SS ^^. Scam? Perhaps... One will never know. That trucker is forever changed.

I hate people like that. Get on the ####ing shoulder you idiots! I do realize that cyclists are allowed to ride on public roadways but man they are taking their life in their hands doing it. A friend of mine witnessed a cyclist getting smoked by a tractor trailer at highway speeds about 7 or 8 years ago. He was travelling in the oncoming lane and seen it happen right in front of him. After he told me about it I keep my riding in the mountains.

The trucker made a lane change over a solid white line.
I certainly don't agree with bicyclists riding in the lanes.
But the trucker is at fault.

I'd really like a link to the news story on this. Where it is, when it was. Did the trucker even stop? Didn't look like it to me, but kind of hard to say with the video shown.
My very first reaction when I saw this was to cuss every dam bicyclist there is out there that insist on riding on a highway! Most places, if it is a limited access freeway, it's illegal for the bikes to be there anyhow. But legal or not legal, it is dam STUPID!
SO YOU HAVE A RIGHT to risk your own death. I have no, I mean NO problem with that at all. But do it in a manner where you aren't going to screw up someone else's life.
ACK Rights and Responsibilities. Everybody wants the rights, nobody wants to take any responsibility.
