2 ways to get a tripac it's already on the truck which isn't likely or you buy your own
And if you want a new truck stand your ground and refuse to sign a lease for a used one

Remember, all our vehicles are true O/O trucks (purchased) that are leased ON TO Prime, not leased FROM Prime at all. We are just running under Prime's authority.
You can only lease Freightliner & Pete's, as far as new now, I believe.
Prime used to do the Kenworth, but then went to those as fill in only when they could not get enough trucks. Do not believe they are doing that any longer. May still be able to catch one used that is turned in.
Prime doesn't do Volvo's at all. You would have to purchase from outside and bring it on, as long as it falls under Prime's specs, as with any other makes. Looking to possibly do exactly that with a Western Star in next month or two.Last edited: Mar 5, 2016

May want to go brand new on the apu as well the rigmasters of old used a different engine I believe it was a baby cat engine. Last year was rigmaster was offering a choice between two engines the cat and the new kohler engine. I've seen that new engine on an apu with the cover removed now I'm no mechanic but that engine looked very well made to my eye. Now it seems from looking on rigmasters website that the kohler is the only engine offered. Also it looks like the double blower that used to be an optional upgrade is being offered as standard? The purpose of a double blower is exactly what it sounds, blows with twice as much fan pressure, this would be a huge improvement. Now it seems rigmaster is rating the new units with the double blower at 24, 000 btu(I think it used to 12k btu) cooling compared to the new tripac evolutions 13k btu, and the old tripac's were more 20k btu. I've had the old tripac that thing rocked it was bullet proof it ran and ran no problems cooled real well. The old rigmaster as you know you'd be better off putting a house fan in front of a large bag of ice. Now I have the new evo tripac it doesn't cool nearly as well as the old one, and rigmaster has a much better control panel, otherwise I'm happy with it. Wish I had 24k btu though 13k isn't enough. As far as the truck the freightliners are going to be the best on your bottom line they're statistically(according to jd power) more reliable and also the most fuel efficient, and the pete's are very nice trucks can surely make some money with them as well.Last edited: Mar 6, 2016

While were talking apu's what are you gonna do for yours?
-
What's the deal with those? Prime doesn't like to buy them?
-
No, it's prime was having to many issues with tripac when it came to warranty work and to much down time of trucks so they switched to rigmaster. Rigmaster still has its issues but supposedly not as bad as the tripac.
With tnt new engine in the rigmaster, prime has had even less down time on the apu with a longer preventative maintenence interval as well.
The real trick with the rigmaster is regular maintenance. Keep up with that and you really shouldn't have issues. I have over 2200 hours on mine and the only issue I had was it eating through belts but that's been resolved now (it's amazing what you can do with a pry bar)
If I was to do it all over again, I would get a truck without the apu pre installed and go buy the generator model from Rigmaster.darthanubis and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
