Almost everybody cheats the E log. How? When your at the shipper and your logged into the sleeper and then at midnite you get the call to put it in the dock, and then deal with the lumper. Most drivers are going to stay logged into the sleeper.

"Want" and can get are two different things. There are standards that are required to be met before you can get your hands on certain things.
Well, you can guarantee all you want. I'm sure it happens sometimes, but your guarantee is hogwash because when I was hit, two people were seriously injured and one was nearly killed, we didn't think she would survive for awhile, and the cops didn't even look at my logbooks, and the only thing I ever heard from the cops or lawyers after the fact was when the DA called me to let me know that they were setting up a plea deal with the driver and they wanted the info on the damages to the truck so they could work recompense into her plea deal. (yeah, that's right, they wanted to make sure she paid for the damage to the truck I was driving).ramblingman, Ruthless and HotH2o Thank this. -
Wtong. Your phone can be tracked even when its off. The exception is if you pulled the battery out of it.
-
Yep and here is another one.
Say you are doing a drop and hook. It takes you 45 minutes to do this. Now you log 15 minutes for the drop and hook and then 30 minutes off duty.... BAM! Your 30 minute break is now taken care of. You just saved 30 on your 14 and 70. -
Well yeah..I watch Law&Order too.

You see the problem today is everyone is sue happy.
Doesn't matter who is at fault.
If someone runs into me,nope I wasn't on the phone.
Lawyers love that stuff.
I for one would NEVER knuckle under if involved in a lawsuit.
If I am innocent then that's it.
If I did something I own up to it.
That's why I carry a crap load of insurance.
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Ruthless and rachi Thank this. -
And here I thought you liked stalkers. ;p
JkHeWhoMustNotBeNamed and Flatbed Valkyrie Thank this. -

You're confusing "criminal" with "civil".
You may be cleared of criminal charges and to not be at fault, but doesn't mean you'll escape a potential civil action like a wrongful death lawsuit. -
Val, tell them that you have an Apple phone. Apple won't roll over for dead terrorists.
See, this thread is a good example of the fearmongering that's prevalent in the industry. Someone is quoting something that they heard from a Safetyman and passes it around as gospel. Some drunk woman won a hundred grand lawsuit and the driver is still getting his wages garnished. You mean that driver didn't have insurance on his rig? Waitaminute...he was driving for a company that had insurance yet they garnished his wages. And the Safetyman was telling another driver. Bet the woman also sued for wrongful death too.
"But Six...the woman didn't die."
I know, I'm just trying to help the fearmongers embellish a story.
25 years ago, I had a driver tell me of a friend of his that had a shiny black Pete that blew his horn at a moose, and the moose destroyed the truck.
A year ago, I had a 25 yr old tell me about a friend of his that had a shiny black Pete that blew his horn at a moose and the moose destroyed the truck. I told the guy about my run in with a moose in Nova Scotia. I blew my horn and the moose ran away. Maybe it was just a Peterbilt thing.Ruthless, Flatbed Valkyrie, wore out and 1 other person Thank this.
