I have met a lot of UTI techs. that are now driving truck. In fact I have met more UTI techs. driving truck then I ever did wrenching.
When I was wrenching full time, UTI was sort of a joke in the industry. No one wanted to hire one of those guys. It was often thought the backyard mechanic or junkyard flunky made a better hire than one of those guys. I have applied for jobs where the first question asked was, "Did you go to UTI?" When I always answer, "no." I would then get, "Good, I can't possibly hire another one of those guys." No, joke. That has happened several times.ajohnson Thanks this. -
