What'cha got??? I gotta tell you right now, I'm a huge bargain shopper :biggrin_2558:

I did alot of studying on the extrude honing today and found some real interesting stuff. A reason it appeals to me is that I want to maintain the stock appearance to keep the warranty. From what I can gather this process will give me some gains in both HP and mileage w/o voiding the warranty. The 3406B manifold won't slide by if I had a warranty claim, but I seriously doubt that CAT will be looking inside my manifold or measuring the spray holes in my injector tips. That guy with the hot rod 550 really knows his stuff! I may ask him to email me his autograph... hehehe.

There is a chart on one webpage that shows the increase or decrease in HP/fuel mileage after doing a certain % of extrude honing on injectors. They said that power will go up but mileage wll go down at 60%. 550, are you sure that your buddy's injectors are 60%? BTW- the ECM on the 475 ACERT in the W9 I'm about to buy reads 5.71 mpg lifetime and 6.1 w/o idle included. I'd LUV to get the HP up to 650-700 and the mileage up to 6.5 :yes2557: 650/6.5 kinda has a nice ring to it, don't it?

SO - wires, muffler, extrude hone injectors and manifold... DONE??? (until the warranty runs out...) Or do i still need ECM work?

Does sound like you got the 59s then, if you get 45psi of boost and all you have is the injectors. Unless they are flowed out stockers.

Yeah the guy i know has them 60% over. Im just passing on what he tells me, so im not going to vouche for his fuel millage, all though hes not one to lie.

You cant use the B manifold if you are gonna keep the twin turbos, if you wanna use the manifold you have to convert it to single turbo. Do that after the warranty runs out along with a older 6NZ C-15 ecm.

If all you want is 650-700hp then go 30% over stock. Trust me you will get bored quick.

I lost some of my boost. I used to pull up to 35 but now its down to 20-23 pounds. I've checked everything all the air-to-air, cooler, turbo, and boots. I've got a new transfer pump on it, the heads been off and everything is good in there. I still have my fuel mileage 6.5 to 7 mpg's and HP seems to have drooped off some but not much.

It all started when the diaphram in the AFR started leaking, I took it into CAT and they fixed the problem...so i thought. They put some young kid on it who only knew Electronic motors but someone was supposed to watch him. When i got the truck back it ran worse then when I took it in.

I lost all the snap so I went and readjusted the AFR and got that back but never got my boost back? Any ideas? Could it be the fuel pump itself causing this?

Why do they make differnt sizes?I was told with mine they put in there own barrels and plungers with higher pressures to get a better burn.I doubt they would tell me what they started with at the end of the day the injectors work well,Just have to sort out the manifold.

Sounds to me like they turned the fuel flow back to stock. A 425 will run 22psi of boost.

830hpl they could be his own brew, i thought he sold you original stock CAT injectors.

They were brand new injectors, the guy fitting them at Western Star was on his third one before he saw the 830hp markings on the side of the injector he put his hands in the air and said he wasnt going fit them:biggrin_255:The boss told him to carry on I havent laughed so much in a long time.He did a good job and by the end he couldnt wait for the test drive I think he is still has a big grin on his face.I would say they were his own brew.

They also have a 5 year/500,000 mile warranty on the turbo and injectors.
