I need my free showers and points on my driver cards for free Subway and truck stop trinkets! :biggrin_25523:

Most terminals you have to go through the safety lane before going to fuel, if there is a line? That would suck.

Wow...didn`t really think this thread would go for 4 pages but hey, keep the comments coming. I`m hoping to head to Columbus for orientation on the 20th (soon as recruiter get`s back to me) and would like to learn all I can since they`re website doesn`t really say much. But I`m definitely interested in how they do there fueling...last company I could only fuel at one certain kind of truck stop and that really sucked hauling heavy through W.VA and other states where there is only one of those truck stops in the whole state.

OK, fuel stops. Every time you are dispatched on a load, i.e. you accept a preplan and the load assignment then comes over the Qualcomm, you will receive a message with fuel stops and route for that load. The fuel stops will give you location and amount. This is not absolutely set in stone, your DM can change your route. Changing your route will of course change your fuel stop(s). However, you cannot be authorized to fuel at the location of your choice anymore. If the fuel route given with your load assignment doesn't work for some reason, your DM will "reoptimize" your route and the system will give you a new stop.

Each fuel stop is only good for one transaction. Even if you are authorized for 200 gallons and you only put 100 in, that fuel stop is used up. Most truck stops give a driver a free shower for buying over 50 gallons of fuel. So when a fuel stop is for 200 gallons, some drivers put in 100 gallons, hang up the pump, then try to put in another 100 for another shower, but it won't work. Once you've hung up the pump, that transaction is complete and you will have to get a new fuel stop from your DM before you can fuel again.

At some terminals (not all) you have your trailer inspected by a mechanic before you can enter. They basically just look at lights and tires, but some of the mechanics don't work very fast. It can be a PITA, but it does help keep the trailers in good shape. There's a number of drivers who don't care if there's a light out or a flat tire and would never fix anything of their own volition.

When you put it that way it doesn't sound too bad. In fact, it sounds like it's probably worth the time lost. Better maintained trailers are a very good thing.

No its not a opinion that makes a truck terrible...When you get to drive one, then you'll know what we mean by saying these comments..Columbias are big and roomy but leak everywhere, wind comes thru the doors so much that my left leg felt frozen..infact i had a bottle of water down by the door and it was very cold all day with the heater blasting...lol ! Detroits aren't bad until all the co's turn them down and then they turn into a joke...no power what so ever...the best one I had, was 7 years old..had 750,000 miles and had a Cummins!

I see mostly Frieghtliners and Prostars, Volvos in the mix (unfortunately I drive one),some Kenworths. Pretty much luck of the draw on what you get. I had to park a rookies trailer for him at Campbells soup, they gave him an almost new Kenworth for his first solo outing. As I parked his trailer for him he told me how bad a company Swift is. I just wanted his truck.
