If it was only one violation I would say no but three I don't know companies may have to think twice.,You can't really blame them either.

People keep throwing around the term CSA points. Lets be clear about something as a truck driver you are only getting CSA points when you are caught by a DOT certified cop whom fills out the inspection report listing the seatbelt violation. You even if driving a CMV don't get CSA points from tickets alone.

I would hire someone with only seatbelt violations like the OP. However I would hope by the time he finished the orientation process he knew the importance of buckling up.

I don't put much stock in "hope" that somebody changes their ways. The pattern of behavior is pretty clear, as well as the failure to learn and adapt when caught and punished.

How many times are you going to have to attempt to correct other bad habits? There are drivers who get the same log violations (whether from DOT or by a company's safety dept) over and over and over again...because that's just how they've always done it, and they can't get it through their head that they are doing it wrong. Time invested in an individual who fails to learn and adapt is wasted resources that would be better used to recruit, hire, and train drivers who will follow the rules. When you've got a stack of applications on your desk to sift through, MVR's with multiple tickets for the same offense tend to find their way to the bottom of the stack. The cleaner your MVR and the more longevity you've shown in your work history, the better your application looks to prospective employers.

That's interesting. In Alberta I believe its written out as "Misuse of Vehicle Safety Equipment". Carries no points but its a fine of over $150 IIRC.

Does that make a difference my seat belt violations didn't carry any points neither, are they still frowned upon.

Some companies may because of the zero tolerance in their truck. Just be honest and start calling and asking.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

I have an application/MVR for a new driver on my desk which includes two counts of Vehicular Manslaughter and the company my truck is leased to accepted him as a driver. It is a story I won't repeat but let's say it was justified for the circumstance. After talking to the driver about it, I don't think he would have an issue being hired by other companies.

Oh and by the way a lesson why we need to wear a seatbelt is here -

Actually I do and have seen many (problem children) change their ways after having an attitude adjustment. I do agree with you however that once that pattern has been established the largest majority will slip back into their old ways. To be honest when I first got my drivers license in 1974 at 16 there were no seatbelt laws. Even in the late 70s while in the Air Force I don't remember ever wearing a belt. I actually never worried much about wearing one till a day in 1997 when a North Carolina Trooper gave me a seatbelt ticket. I was driving a CMV that day. There was no inspection report made but I did call safety and as luck would have it our vice president of safety answered the phone. I got a royal chewing out and told I would be routed through our home office to view some safety videos. After that day I started wearing my belt. Then after a few years of wearing a belt I now out of habit buckle up. So this is why I say I would hire the OP and trust in my safety dept to educate the OP on the importance of buckling up.
