Dear dispatch team:

If a load is high priority and high risk, you should probably communicate that to me when you send the load to me so I can plan accordingly. I have to do things differently with that type of load than with a regular load. Telling me after I have accepted and started does nobody any good.

850 miles in 14hrs 30min. In a 65mph governed (neutered) truck, heavy (43K), over WV mountains (Danville VA to Indy).

They thought I couldn't do it....

Met one of my dispatchers, seems a decent fellow if a little green. But he knows he's green, and that's a major plus.

Did some admin work, and truck is in the shop.

Probably out of here in the morning.

 

Think I'm gonna ask for tomorrow off, just so I can rent a car and run errands tomorrow. Gotta check the mail. And go by the pound and shelter to see if we can find that one special fur buddy. Last two visits everything was a pit bull, which I can't have in a Celadon truck. Only two we met that weren't, one was 85 pounds (has to be under 50) and the other was way too mouthy--he nearly broke skin on my hands and arms about a dozen times. All I could see was coming out to the truck and the driver's seat being half eaten. Wish I could have taken him, but we don't really have time to put into that kind of behavior modification. Maybe if I was a local guy, home nights and weekends, etc. An OTR truck isn't a good environment for an insecure or hyperactive dog.

No rush, he's (or she's) out there somewhere.
