I had a similar thing several years ago and couldn't get an answer so called up the Florida dot, after several days of transfers and call backs i got ahold of a guy that does on site audits. The way he explained it to me is, i still need a rods for the last 8 days as soon as i left the 100 mile radius. The only way it would benefit me is if i knew i was staying local for a full 8 days. Local 3 days then otr the fourth required going back over those 3 days and creating a rods log book for them.

That "auditor" needs to get on the FMCSA website and read the official guidance on the matter, because he is wrong.

Another example of an "auditor" who needs to consult the official guidance found on the FMCSA website.

You show the time you start by dropping down onto line #4. You show the time you are released from duty by heading back up to line #1. Total up the time on line #4. Name. Date. That is all that is required.

Thank you! I just sent him my interpretations of question 13, 16, 17 & 20. So we'll see what he says.
