If you were given the option of a late model Volvo or Mack double bunk for OTR work which would you choose and why?
I have driven both but definitely more Volvos and the Volvo is very comfortable. Reliability between the two?

All I can give you is an opinion on looks. Those flat nose Pinnacles are way better looking than any Volvo.
QuietStorm, AModelCat, j_martell and 2 others Thank this. -
Anymore, it's the same engine...just different tuning. Mack has more in-house options for transmissions and rear ends, although if you get the auto, it's the same too. Most "fleet" operations will get vendor (typically Eaton) transmissions and rears, though, so again, same.
Personally, I like Mack...but haven't driven anything built since Volvo bought them. Never drove a Volvo...never really liked the way they look. -
love the ride in a Volvo, best suspension I ever drove. That said haven't been in a Mack since the bulldog.

Most dealers they are paired together.

I currently have both, 780 Volvo and a Mack CHU613. Pro's and cons to both. I do like the interior setup of the Volvo with the table and bench seats, but I'd say I prefer driving the Mack. -
I drive Volvos daily at present, but I'd drive a Mack if I had the option. Very similar with respect to mechanicals and dealer network, it kind of comes down to your aesthetic preferences for interior and exterior.

Which is more reliable on average?

I drove Macks at my last job. That's all they bought. I liked them, and the newer Visions are pretty sharp looking. The only thing I don't like is where the mirrors sit on the door. It may be me, but they take up probably a good 1/4 of the window view. It can be difficult to see down the road when you're making a turn. I've multiple times almost pulled out into a car because I couldn't find them behind the mirror. Lean forward, not there. Lean back, not there. Then bam, there he is. I'm driving Cascadias now, and I don't seem to have the same problem.
bottomdumpin and Grijon Thank this.
