I don't have a question as such at this time. I decided to go for a "class b" CDL.
I hope to start driving some straight trucks locally in the Tampa area.
I'm sure I'll have plenty of "newbie" questions later.
Wish me luck. I go for the written test on Friday.
just starting out

Hello Everyone,
I am new to trucking, just getting my CDL's on July 7. My hubby is an OTR trucker for Summitt Trucking out of Indiana. We are strongly considering going with Covenant Transport due to the fact that they will let hubby train me. I have heard good and bad about this company. Could I please get some feedback, whether good or bad.

Well, I know of 3 guys that got kicked out of orientation because they drank beer at the hotel after class....food for thought. They are a VERY righteous company. For some reason they believe God has a place in the companies vision. Nothing wrong with religion, but, I just don't wanna ask where my paycheck is and hear "God said we didn't have to pay you".

god told us to put the money in the company offering plate lol

I've heard that about Covenant. though I have no experience with them (other than a paranoid driver)
As for me, my relationship with my employer is a business relationship. His religions beliefs and mine do not enter into it. When they do, I can find someplace else to work. -
There's not a lot of differance in training really. And zero differance in cost of training. Unless the school has a lot full of straight trucks and offers a discount for "B" training only..
You can operate with an "A'. Why not go the whole 9 yards, and cover all your bases.
