Is it better for a woman to get trained by another woman or man?

It kinda depends.... I think females are better drivers in general, they are also going to expect more from you.

a male driver that has experience a lot of experience as a trainer isn't going to hit on you, to many wtf calls doesn't get you students of the oposite gender.

I would say it does matter but not a great deal... the wait time is the real problem. Do you want to wait a month for a female trainer? That's the reality.

I'm still the good guy. Haven't always been, but mostly. It worked out for me. Got one now that's as good as gold.

I think regardless of gender of trainer you should have a bug-out bag and emegency money you keep with you all the time. If things get spooky you can just bail.

Hell, I had that as a student. Even being a decent sized guy. Females ought be issued .45s with some of the guys I see out here...

On second thought, probably not the best idea.

You can always get Caitlyn Jenner to train you, that way it's the best of both worlds.

Well this thread hit the wall pretty quick.

Try to get it back on track.

    OP:

Gender doesn't matter the trainer/trainee scenario is sub par to begin with. People, in general, suck.

I've heard horror stories from both sides of the fence.

Fact is you will have a longer wait if you're picky about who trains you.

On the upside, not everyone is bad. Keep an open mind and pray for the best and stay in contact with your supervisor or trainer manager or whatever they decided to call it.

    Female perspective here...

At school, I had a female trainer. She was harder on me than the guys. She told me that the industry doesn't need any more "trucker girls" just truckers.

I was backing one day and she kept making me back over and over again. The tractor was straight but the trailer wasn't. "In the real world, you park between trailers not cones. Do it right," she said. "To compete with men, you have to be better and no whining."

Her advice helped me a lot. I appreciate it.

Now, I am training with a male at my new job. He's respectful and patient. I trust that he will keep me safe on the road. He's open to answer any question that I have regarding company policy and best industry practices.

One night we stopped in a rest area and he told me to use the individual stall not the women's restroom that way I can lock the door and be safe. "Never put yourself in a position to be assaulted," he said. When I came out of the room, he was waiting for me. He walked me back to the truck and we were off.

A couple minutes later we talked about on the road safety. Most of the things we discussed, I would have never thought of. There are lots of great trainers male and female in the industry.

Find a company that cares about your safety and you will be fine.
