How are the miles/wk with Schneider? Or with any company for that matter? Can you still make a decent living at this?

you can make enough to survive and thats about it right now. too many drivers out there running the same frieght to make any money in my opinion. it is getting tougher to make a dollar now days. real drivers do not do it for the money. we do it for the love of the road and the feeling of freedom.

    From their website:

You can bet company drivers get fewer miles.

2300-2500 is a good expectation from most companies.

    Strange thing though.

If you run OTR. They can hardly get you 2500 a week. If you run regional, they complain if you get less....go figure.

2500 miles equals 3 days per week sitting in a truck stop..as an OTR driver

ive been getting 2k to 2.5k but some weeks ill only get 1.8k freight is rather slow and as jack frost said theres tons of drivers im currently trying to get onto a dedicated account with schneider where the miles are more consistant (ill only hual for one company so theres not as much competition for miles)

I have worked here for 2 years. I have never had any problems with my business leader or trip planner/dispatcher. If you are reasonable and do your work, they will not bother you. Of course, I don't complain often and have never refused a load. They know where and how I like to run. Things have been a little slow lately, but I lucked out this week and am currently on a load to Ogden, Utah, from North Carolina.

I will be honest, if I don't get 3000miles /week it is a horrible week for me. Usually I do around 3600miles/week. Mind u it is with a small company(30 trucks) I find you can make more $ with the smaller outfits. I don't think I would be OTR if I didn't get good miles.

Ps. Jack, if love of the road and freedom don't pay the bills than it just ain't worth it. :)

In my 2 yrs with SNC, I have had maybe 4 loads that I assisted in unloading. Never have done a full hand unload.

Sure enough. For the most part, OTR is going out the window. Take a look at the next train you see, and count the number of containers/trailers on there.
