So I'm looking through Averitt's available positions in my area (Portsmouth VA)

Seems that the shuttle position is all that's available at the moment...

Looks to me that it's a home daily position... Is this correct??

And can new CDL holders apply for this and actually get it?? (I'd hate to apply for shuttle and train only to be told that I have to go OTR)

    Thanks

Hire from inside first but if it's posted it should be open.

I was told you need 6 months truckload before you can get into the others, please message me if you end up getting on with shuttle before that cause that's what I was wanting to do too. It would be great if I didn't have to wait 6 months.

if a shuttle job is open and nobody from TL has interest in it for whatever reason they will hire from outside. When I was hired on they had a couple shuttle jobs as a city driver in Charlotte open. Well I wanted no part in driving around Charlotte. I hate it in my personal car, had to do it in a ready mix truck and no way I was touching it in a truck.

they do and a city driver is just that but same setup etc and you still get home every day. Some LTL jobs you don't even do that.

    DC843 Thanks this.

oh...I thought it went like LTL did pick ups and deliveries in that SVC area, then all the deliveries went on trucks to different SVCs, shuttle brought them to there new destination SVC, then it all repeated....

im a little confused on what your saying, so there is jobs where you are home every day but just do runs to other service centers im assuming are close by?

Some weekend regular TL take it from SVC to SVC and it is broken down there. I made a lot of money working weekends just doing this. Shuttle drivers usually run three SVC drop and hooks a night and this is including where they start out of. Then there are some LTL jobs that just deliver during the day to pretty much anywhere and some are dedicated routes or city drivers.
