Volvo released another recall yesterday that goes beyond the one you linked to. They sent it to Dealers. They said they are working on a temp fix and will have one in place next week.

Scooter has this right. Even if your truck was recalled for that last fix, that is NOT enough. This is a totally new recall, and affects all the trucks in that last recall, and more. Take a look at Scooter's picture in the first post of the thread. Problem is that "D" shaped collar (about 1 1/2 inches long) between the 2 rubber boots on the silver coloured shaft. Will be about at eye level when you look at it. If you must drive to a dealer rather than a tow, (Volvo recommends towing) PLEASE check that joint collar to be SURE it isn't loose. Cannot overstate the importance of this recall. Lives may depend on it. Volvo will have some compensation available. Details will follow. I understand money is important, and your revenue is important. We all get that, BUT when your life is in danger, and the lives of everyone on the road could be threatened, there is simply no other choice. CHECK and get it in ASAP.

Volvo service sent a tow yesterday. They hooked truck & trailer and repositioned it to the nearest dealership 85 miles away. The waiting game begins. I expect to be compensated by Volvo for my downtime. I'm certain they realize the potential for a class action against them looms large if they don't make it right.

I starting calling at 0800 Saturday morning trying to secure a rental truck in the interim. Penske's National Owner Operator Fleet dept. told me their phones started blowing up as soon as this notice went out Friday afternoon.

I knew the likelihood of finding a rental was nil to none, however, I at least made an attempt so that I could fulfill my obligation to deliver product committed for Monday morning in L.A.

That will obviously not happen now...

Not good. I drive a 2015 Volvo with Western Express but it was manufactured in September 2014. But the company has been putting A LOT of 2015-2017 Volvos into service.

Same thing happened to me in 1988. Just bought a brand new Peterbilt, then TRW came out with a steering gear recall. Same thing, get it towed. "I drove it across town"

I dont' remember how long it took, or if down time was paid

As per the recall notice.... Trucks built 05/11/15 to 11/12/15 are effect.

If your truck was built outside this date you should not have a problem. But do check your steering shaft to make sure it doesn't have that D collar connector.

That is partially correct. As I noted, the recall affects trucks manufactured 05/11/2015 through 03/08/2016. It is my understanding that Volvo has not yet released to the general public this recent notice and plans to do so tomorrow.

Volvo has issued an alert to the dealers to not deliver any more of these trucks until the temporary repair has been made. I received an email this afternoon from the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Volvo Group North America LLC, confirming to me that the temporary repair solution will not be ready until Monday or Tuesday of this upcoming week.

In addition, as has been previously noted, this recall notice supercedes the one you alluded to.

This is weird, I had my truck serviced recently and they told me about the recall.
The dealer then said my truck wasn't affected even though it was during the build dates listed..... WTH ??

Not every truck built during the period was affected. Check again with a Dealer (using the last 6 numbers of your VIN) and take a look at the column. If it is silver, and has that "D" shaped collar on the shaft, it needs to go in.....
If the shaft is black, and lacks the joint collar, you are "good to go". Only the silver ones with the joint collar are bad. Also remember this recall only came out on Friday, so any info you had prior to that might not be current.....CHECK to be sure....
