    Good luck Don't let guys get you down about KAG. It isn't always about the wage you're getting paid up front. It's hard to put a straight forward number on something when there are so many variables. Lots of add on fees to the base rate. I've hauled gas for KAG in the Midwest and now at a terminal in the South. I'm home everyday, my yearly pay is north of $70k a year and I have excellent benefits from medical to 401k match. There are other opportunities also like being able to transfer to other locations/companies under KAG throughout the country. It's an easy place to get comfortable at as long as you don't get caught up in the negativity that exists at any trucking company.

    Keep us posted, I to am interested in CTI/ KAG. I live across the LI Sound from there and filled out an application a few days ago.Any tips or info on the job itself would be great! I would be going OTR with them due to the distance I would have to travel.There's a ferry from Long Island to New London that might be doable?? Thanks!

    flybynite;

    Yeah thanks, I hear you. If you let the negativity take root, it doesn't matter where you end up, even outside of trucking, you'll fall victim to it like everyone else. I am staying positive, see very little to become concerned with. Training is going pretty good so far.

    Update: 3-16-16

    Today will mark my 10th day of training. Last night, the trainer said he would treat today as a sort of a test, if I prove to know all the steps, loading and unloading, he would speak with the terminal manager about releasing me for solo running. I still need to attend a scheduled CTI company orientation/safety phase, but after that I would return and be hauling my own loads.

    Thanks for all your responses, I do appreciate them all.

    Stay safe all

    Completed my last day of road/procedure training last night (this morning). I was effectively released yesterday to start running solo come Saturday, but I spoke with the terminal manager today and he informed that I am scheduled to take the safety/orientation training at the terminal this coming Tuesday. It is a four day workshop. I was not surprised that this is the way it is, because when I heard that they were sending me out Saturday without Safety's blessings I was a bit miffed. I'm actually relieved that I will get this training beforehand, instead of after, mid-stream out in Ohio or PA or something.

    Anyway I'm off for a few days, have a whole bunch of online safety-related training modules to complete online (which I get paid to do!), so that'll we be good.

    In terms of my trainer I'd say he was a wealth of information, full of helpful tips and constructive criticism. Never condescending, always uplifting and positive, encouraging resourceful. I would rate my training with him a 9 or 10, he was a good teacher, and I thank him tremendously for his instruction.

    Unrelated to my training, or trucking for that matter, my dad passed away. That has put my continued training on hold!

    I was informed last Thursday by my Terminal Manager that I can't start out solo until I attend and complete KAG/CTI Orientation/Safety Training. I would expect this, and was shocked that at the onset it looked like I was going out solo without said training. The class was scheduled for me, and several others, at the terminal in Bozrah, beginning this week, on Tuesday, ending on Friday. My dad's passing prevents me from attending any of this class, so I don't know what will happen now. Likely they will reschedule me at some other terminal/HQ at a later date. This is not good for me.

    My priority of course is my father's memorial, support of my family and my own grief. I will place a call into the manager this morning, explaining my situation (I had informed him of my dad's declining health), and needing to take this week off.

    I'll update later when I have news, and certainly after this is all over.

    Thanks for reading.
