I've been driving sense 2011 and have done both Otr and local home everyday. I'm currently working for an ltl company doing p&d. A little in info on my job the company pays .39 and by stop which is 8.66 so in order to make a steady paycheck either have the miles or stops. I've worked for them two months and I can't bring home over 500 net. The company is called N&M Transfer. Most times I'm sent home early because they can't find loads to pick up in the afternoon. I have to unload my trailer at times which is appliances using pallet Jack or two wheel hand cart. I'm looking into either gong back otr regional with west side transport which offer out five home two with a 900-1200 pay commit or dorhn transfer 20.00 HR doing day cab ltl/truck load
Would like some opinions between doing ltl/truck load or otr

Man, I wish i had answers.. keep browsing these threads, and you may find a bit of direction. That's crappy, to bring home $500, with all that hard work; agreed.
You live in Iowa, and do you have and and/or all your endorsements?
The more info you give, the more the vets of this site can help. You have 5 years experience, there's gotta be something better!
@Chinatown ??
He should be along shortly, hopefully with some helpful leads; the more info you can give tho, the better he / and ANY/EVERY one can help.
Kudos for the 5 man. Hang in and check back. Drive safe~morpheus Thanks this. -
I agree it's crappy! I don't know why I chose ltl thought ide give it a challenge and see if its me but I'm now seeing the facts of P&D which is you have to run your ### off and can't take your time. The company that's offering 20.00 HR sounds very good but it's slip seat. I live in Davenport IA and I have tanker and hazmat endorsement. I don't want double and do not want passengers. Going back regional otr out five home two with the 900-1200 dollar pay commit sounds good too .

$20 an hour is decent for your area.
Do you wanna be home or no?
How long is the commute would be my question.
If it's over 30 minutes one way then do the regional gig.
I detest driving my four wheeler after driving a truck all day.
But the local doesn't sound bad. 700 bucks a week. Even if I had to drive an hour once a week to do the regional I would.
Commuting in a fourwheeler pisses me off xD -
I would look at other LTL option in your area, making the dough and having a life is priceless.

Xpo needs drivers.
They have otr regional to local where you take your vesting years with you
You can't park at the davenport yard if you are an otr guy.
See what they got for you. -
Ruan runs dedicated HON out of Davenport/Muscatine. I've heard good things about them. Dohrn I hear is pretty good as well.

Look for a LTL position that pays by the hour. P & D drivers are home every night.
Bob Dobalina and SkipShooter148 Thank this. -
Alot of P&D pays by the hour, but I got suckered into this NM Transfer out of Neenah, Wi. They had made sound as if I would make a steady paycheck lol sure if you have sonority and a good bid comes available.Haulin Harry Thanks this.

Get on with a good ltl outfit...
Always work on the clock, not by the mile or flat rate and you should be alright
