From what I've read into it, you could be safer from harassment at the scale than somewhere like a truck stop or rest area. It's FL regulation (may actually be law) that they cannot bother you if you park at the scales. Only thing they can do is make you correct a obvious violation that can be seen from a distance, even then they can only make you correct it without citation.
I have to agree though, it would still make me nervous. That guy in the interview seems like a standup guy but even he will admit that there are also so a-holes at the FL scales.
