UPDATE 72k miles!!
Hello everyone! I now have reached 72k miles on my 2016 Volvo ISX15 525/1850 3.42 rears 13 speed eaton. Im gonna list some of the issues i encountered with the truck since the last post
#1 Brake light bulb went out at 13k miles "no big deal"
#2 At 20k miles i came across this issue where the truck would vibrate under heavy load when rpms would drop below 1300. It would vibrate the most at 1150. Now i know with d13's this means an issue with cups so i took it to the dealer and a quick ECM calibration fixed it.
#3 At 24k miles a check engine code came up it would come and go actually, the code was "j1587". Some electrical issue i was told, the dealer couldnt fix it in like 3 tries "the numb heads at Fife, WA Tec Equipment". After a little while it disappeared by its self.
#4 At 50k miles the fan clutch went out in McAllen, TX. Luckily i noticed it on time before the fan caused a havoc under the hood. Only 1 day downtime the local dealer took care of it under the warranty. The fan clutch brand was "Horton".
#5 At 70k miles i get a check engine light because the fogs aren't working, checked the fuses and the connections, turns out light bulbs went bad.
So my overall experience with this truck is satisfying "compared to some other Volvo owners i know" but I'm really satisfied with the ISX motor. No issues at all, its a beast! Pulls on hills like crazy. Oil consumption with 15-40 is about 1 gal in 15k miles. With 10-30 about 1/2 gal for 20k miles. Ive been driving it harder, with 80 gross driving 70+ mph i get 6.5 if i want to get 7+ mpg id have to keep it around 62mph which is not happening. Keep in mind that i live in WA state so there are a lot of hills. Oh yea and the engine brake is outstanding! Much stronger than the D13 and the older ISM motor. I can go down 6/7% grades fully loaded with no use of pedal brake, maintains around 45 mph on 10th gear. If i use the 11th gear id have to use the brake but very little.
