It doesn't matter what they call if there is no freight around. Sitting in Ottawa, KS because it's dead here as usual.

And yet the latest video said that things are picking up this month due to many factors.
Although, freight always picks around the end of March.

I've been here over 5 years now, and freight is ALWAYS slow this time of year.
Everyone complains and gripes about it, but it is always so.
It is simply an occupational hazard that we must live with.
    Live with the fact.

It is really no different in many fields of work.
Construction has high and low periods, so do sales of any product.
Even being a waiter and bartender, we had slow times of the year.
Why should it be different with trucking, which relies on all those others to move things?

    Me?
I go with the flow, always.
I'll enjoy the busy times when I can make more money, and I'll enjoy the slower times when I can relax more.
If you know what to expect, you can plan for it.

I don't believe in stress, so I go with the flow.

Was a little below average for the time of the year in January and early February ... last 4 weeks back are hitting stride again.

    Grand Junction, CO.

A pplan came in just before 1700, picking up nearly 300 miles away at 0800 tomorrow morning.
I couldn't find the town on the GPS or in the atlas so no real idea of how long it would take to get there.
    No delivery appointment either.
I adjusted the pickup time and the system didn't like that. My DM messaged back and said to take the load and that my pick up time was fine. So I did.
Turns out it is a few miles from Little America, at exit 72 along I-80.

I delivered a load this afternoon near here and I have plenty of hours left to drive. But I'm not going to make that run tonight. It is mostly the back roads and I don't want to try and find parking at midnight.

I'll be headed to Richmond, CA. (Oh, joy)
My DM shot me another message telling me to let him know my ETA for delivery so that he could set up the appointment.

I like this load, even though it will be a heavy one.
I'll pass by Evanston so I can restock my tobacco, and I'll pass through Wendover and Reno for a bit of gambling.
Hopefully the weather will be with me. It looks good so far.
And I can pretty much set my own times.

Yes its called Green River Wyoming, actually had the same pp a couple of weeks ago. After dropping at Lowes in Cheyenne, during the 80 mph winds in Cheyenne, and the closed part of 70 that week due to the rock slide. Plnr wanted me to take Sams load to Grand Junction, CO, then do what you got, DH 300 to WY to pick up. I declined them both and instead just went down to Denver when weather cleared up and got beer ld to MT, then Worland mty can load to Dallas after that.

Yes I always hit Walmarts in Evanston, and while in Wendover I think they still have the half off buffet tickets in the truckers lounge don't they? Well they used to, along with free showers and decent washing machines and dryers.

Well at least FSC is going up, instead of its usual decline, yeah!

I love finding out that I was assigned a class and never notified about it. Now instead of running my load to Kentucky tonight so I can park early, I have to sit here in Edwardsville until tomorrow.

That really sucks, it used to be they would give you fair warning about going on Safety Hold in X days if whatever class wasn't taken.

Yeah that really must suck, being all psyched up and ready to roll and told now that you have to just sit and wait.

What class is it, that is so vital to Swift that they can't let you catch it at some other time?

    Yes.
The Peppermill in Wendover loves truckers.
The showers are the next best thing to the Little America's, and still far above any other truck stop.

I'm not psyched up or ready to go, I shouldn't have even taken the load which still hasn't gotten to the terminal. I have to do LCQT again, dinged a Prostar backing into a spot two weeks ago while I was still recovering from the bronchitis that almost killed meh.
