    Hi Rollin,

Yes, I would prefer not to have to pay a bond as I would be working with/for the o/o and the services would be pretty much the same. You say that I will be affected to the same pressures, but the freight Ive been offered and rates I've offered have remained constant and in some cases went up. From what I've read on these boards here, I am getting a primium because most of the rates I get are at 2 1/2 to 3 times what is offered on load board etc. I guess it does help that I have a lot of friends and family that are shipping managers with some big comapnies and that I do get given the business... I just think o/o's get the crap end of the stick sometimes and I've meet a few that are really good people and get crapped on and and do what it takes because they have a family to feed... I think I'm gonna attempt my model and see how it works...

(Back round: I was asked by a buisness partner (medical field) if I knew anyone in the freight business. I said no and didn't think anything of it because this was not what I did... Then one day a a BBQ I was talking with some friends/ family and behold, a pool of buisness and since I'm a great guy they give me 1st run at everything and tell me what I can and can't bill... It's all about who you know I guess...

It is all about who you know, you're right about that -- you can skip through alot of "grunt work" if you have quick access to shippers with good paying freight that your drivers would like to run. The problem is keeping those relationships solid when another provider comes in with better resources and prices than you... because that WILL happen eventually.

Another problem is brokering freight without broker authority and not having a $75,000 bond in place. You can call yourself whatever you want but what you're doing is brokering freight. This almost seems like an intricate troll thread.

Sounds more like one of these dispatcher threads to me. But lets just assume for a minute that he actually has these contacts with all of this freight. The carrier is going to be the one that in reality the shipper is doing business with, what's to stop the carrier and shipper from running everything thru someone with absolutely no skin in the game. At least with an actual broker they have a bond and insurance among other costs to do business.

This makes me question the believability of the whole thing, because just prior he wrote:

Always somebody looking for a new sneaky way to separate a truck driver from his hard earned money. The worst kinds are these ones that sit at home in their underwear and do basically nothing.

Don't cherry pick part of what I wrote to make it seem suspicious. If you paid attention to my 1st post you would have read that I came into this in Aug. when a buisness parter asked me some questions in regards to what else I did. He then asked if I knew anything about trucking, I said no (it's not what I am in). Then further down in another paragraph I said I was at a BBQ a few weeks later with some friends and family just talking and one started talking about there job and a few other things. So that conversation went all kinds of ways and then I said if I had trucks for you would you give me the buisness, he said "bro i'd give you loads, but you don't have trucks" I told him about my other buisness partner and he said all I needed to do was submit a packet with ins, licenses etc... (I didn't think I needed to get so spacific here). Any how, I set up the 2 as me being a middle man and that was that, my boy then said hey go talk with so and so they can help you out and it just rolled from there, that's how I got my connections...

How can someone separate you from buisness and money you don't have
or would never get? You say sneaky but if I'm over here trying to offer much better rates then are offered by brokers how's that sneaky?... And no I'm not at home, I'm in my office in Downtown LA in a suit, no running around in my underwear here...

Also after reading a few post here and looking up info, it sounds like I would be doing dispatching...
