Russ a bad valve in his heart. Congestive heart failure got him. He hated doctors and wouldn't go to one. And when he finally did, it was too late for them to help him.
A google search of his name and or call sign will turn up some interesting articles. He called himself a "mad scientist" and spent a lot of time in science forums. His knowledge of chemistry, and of course, electronics/radio was impressive. He was the moderator at CBTricks when it started and helped it grow to be one of the better, if not the best, sites to go to for information on all things CB. Russ went through life at his own pace and in his own way. Sad that it ended sooner than it should have.
I haven't smoked in years, but I think I'm gonna have one of his little short stinky "Clint Eastwood" cigars one evening in his honor..........or maybe not, man those things stink!

Sorry to hear this, Mike. I had been wanting to send my radio to him for several months, but I rarely turn the dang thing on, so other things were always a priority. Now, sadly, I have missed out on having some work done by one of the best.
Condolences to those who knew him.mike5511 Thanks this. -
He should have been a college professor in physics.

Wow Mike, Hate to hear about Russ !! The few times I got to stop and visit with him was amazing. His knowledge of electronics was unreal. From his lasers to his robotic dog, he was a genius!! I appreciate you telling me about him and me having the opportunity to meet him. The best part was after you spent some time with him, he was really a great person. I know you have lost a close friend and the radio world has lost one of the best there ever was.
RIP Russ.....mike5511 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
For those of you who knew him and might want to offer some kind words or nice thoughts for his family.
