Was it? I don't know. I don't see many jct trucks around here. Don't know what they look like off hand.

Back to one question posed by the OP, yes running the middle or 2nd lane is taught during orientation at Megas. IMHO it's far better to run the middle lane for trucks in many major cities.

A case in point is I-35E north of Dallas. I run this frequently. Nonstop construction zone with concrete barriers on both sides for miles, frequent lane shifts, uneven road that tosses you around, and SHORT on ramps around blind curves. Far better to be in the middle lane and allow merging 4-wheelers a better chance of not having to come to a complete stop, then trying to pick a spot and gun it to freeway speed from a standing start.

Lots of impatient truckers through that road, trying to run 75 mph in a 55 mph construction zone. I'm surprised there aren't more accidents and fatalities. Yesterday I passed an overturned car, folks were desparately trying to do CPR. Looked like someone tried to merge and someone else tried to not let them.

There's times to hammer down and there's times to chill. Metro areas are a good time to chill and be hyper aware of spacing and what's happening a mile ahead.

One thing about running the middle of three lanes, be aware that many 4-wheel drivers are freaked out trying to pass a big rig in the lane next to you. Whenever possible I bite the bullet and get in the right lane and make way for merging traffic, so 4-wheelers are more comfortable in the two left lanes getting by me.

It's not all about me. Everyone around me needs to get home safely.

If Mr. Governed At 65 just HAS to make up time in that construction zone by hammering down and I'm in the middle lane, too bad. If he wants to pass on the right or left, go for it. I'll wait my time, make it safe for as many as I can, then blow past Mr. 65 later, when the timing is safer and legal in the 75 mph limit.
