Hear this all the time and I would say yes my truck shuts off and yes it's just as easy to override it so it doesn't yes my truck burns weeds and I hold the steering wheel often times with a 80 to 130 ft loàd behind me or a load weighing 65000 I should think with the loads I haul and places I go I don't need to justify myself to anyone and big pipe truck stop truckers who idle next to me when I'm trying to sleep annoys me.
Why do people needlessly idle ?

Holy mother thread of idling!
None of this would be an issue if DOT didn't exist and if we all snorted coke.Short Fuse EOD, Straight Stacks, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -

I consider 45 degrees to be a little chilly. So I would idle the truck when I'm in it. What I don't understand is these drivers that idle their trucks when it's 60 to 70 degrees.

APU's have not been proven to be worth the extra capital and maintenance costs by many analysts in the industry. At this point it's really more of a personal decision or recruiting/retention tool.
Several people have given very good reasons to idle. Calling them "not smart" for not wanting to spend extra money on an APU isn't encouraging to a healthy discussion.Oxbow, MidWest_MacDaddy, G13Tomcat and 1 other person Thank this.
