Oh my God! Tree huggers in a truck....:p

I am all about clean air and keeping the environment healthy but ole mother nature is more resilient than people think. Mt St Helens is a good example. Probably the most destructive force that we have or will see in our lifetimes and look at the recovery. The pollution from other countries around the world affect our weather and air quality more than a few idling trucks. If you think that pollution stays local you are naive.

Now if I am parked for the night and the temps are 60-75 degrees, yeah the truck gets shut off and the windows are probably open.

When am I supposed to shut off the truck.. Every time I pull away from the trailer and get out to do something? Let's see, disconnect airlines and drop the trailer, get out and prepare to disconnect the neck, neck disconnected and pulled away... Yeah that is when I will shut the truck off unless it is really cold or hot outside. It's gonna take a few minutes to unchain and unload. A lot of the time though it idles because 4 chains with snap binders just does not take that long. Sometimes you need to jump back into some climate control for a few minutes. What temperature? That is a case by case basis depending on your preferences.

Anyhow, I am going to idle when I want to idle you can do what you want to. If my idling truck bothers you then find somewhere else to park.

Plus you only really see a return on an APU if you idle constantly. If you rarely idle unless really needed, you probably won't see much of a return if you invest in an APU.

Tree hugger indeed grew up in the redwoods and I have no problem going from mill to mill hauling lumber and being a part of the timber industry but does that mean we should cut down every old growth redwood tree I say no your right other countries do pullute alot but I'm not in another country I'm at the truck stop trying to sleep and there are to many drivers idiling when it's 60 degrees outside. If you want someone to handle what is considered needlessly I will do it for sake of clean air for the sake of my peace and quiet and because this is 2016 and we just need to change our ways.

I don't buy this return on investment b.s for one second if it were not the the fact I'm looking at a trucks with chrome from bumper to oversized gear shift and 25 lame ### flammng skulls all of which could cover 2 apu units , no what we have here is the old school driver that doesn't think he has to care about things bigger then himself most likely a climate change denyer .

Yeah I don't think all those accessories will add up to the $17,000-26,000 investment two APU units will cost.

Besides which, my D13 Volvo engine runs a hell of a lot cleaner than most APU engines do.

See, here's the problem with people like you. Just because you have some ingrained feeling about "how things should be", you think everyone else should change to conform to your ideology. Last I checked, for now at least, this is still a free country, where folks are still allowed to make their own decisions and make their own path in life. If something I or anyone else is doing that is none of your #### business bothers you so much, then either move along to a nice grassy field in the middle of nowhere (oops, can't do that, your weedburner might start a wild grassfire! lol), OR screw off and mind your own business.
You could always move to North Korea where everyone has to bow to the great leader's rules....Maybe you'd be better suited there.

Sorry but I'm a Day cab in a gravel pit....... If it's any thing but perfect conditions the windows are up and I'm using the 600+ hp to run the heat/ac. While I'm parked there.

And the heat or ac is on at home so when I get there I'm comfortable ....

And sorry , I believe in climate change
