You assume everyone should be like you. You feel you are superior to anyone who is different. The problem with ignorance is that ignorant people do not understand just how ignorant they really are. They lack the ability to understand how what they do effects those around them.

Self centered people generally lack the ability to interject an opinion or thought with out using an insult or being offensive when they express a dislike. That in my opinion represents small mindedness.

Tiny brains? How narrow minded is it to insinuate such an insult?

I do what I want because I can. Because its my house, its my comfort zone, its my life. People like you want to control others and dictate how they should be. You should worry more about yourself and less about others.

I had a good friend of mine enlisted in the Navy a few months before Desert Storm. Not sure what his duty status was called,.. he loaded bombs on the planes all day.

He slip bunked under the steam catapults like you. He can sleep through a freight train, tornado and earthquake, all combined as one now.

You want to hear something pathetic?
We both went to the recruiter together. Went to the MEPS center in Jacksonville. Passed the ASVAB and physical with flying colors. The last step before you go to get sworn in,.. they wanted to take my blood. Besides heights,.. I am also deathly afraid of needles and seeing my own blood usually results in either a fit of rage or I pass out.

I tried to be a man about it,.. soon as she stuck me with the needle,.. I hit the floor head first. Disqualified.

You would have been getting shots all the time in the Navy. They also gave shots with those pressure guns. I'm not crazy about heights myself.

Yep,.. just wasnt meant to be.

I often wonder how different my life would be been.

I asked what the highest paid enlisted job was. They told me a Naval aviation firefighter was pretty good. Thats what I was going to go after.

Said all you do is drills all day. Nothing ever really happens. Over seas pay, hazardous duty pay, etc etc,.. sign me up.

I was pretty aimless back then. Needed something with a future attached to it. I thought that would be my ticket.

My buddy retired a few years ago. He held on to his GI bill the whole time,.. got down to use it or lose it with the GI bill,.. so he took some computer courses as a community college. They paid him travel time, plus $80k to take a $6k course. He's doing pretty good. Retired at 46. We should all be so lucky.

I retired back in 2006. A lot of people don't qualify. One of my cousins wanted to join and fly helicopters but he wasn't qualified. His brother was qualified and the Navy. He became a helicopter pilot for his brother.

I'm sure you found something to fufill your life. At least had a good time finding out what that may be.

    Edit:
During the physical I watched a guy who failed the physical when they made us walk on our knee caps. Apparently he had some kind of surgery that prevented him from doing that. Another guy drank too much OJ during breakfast,.. they labeled him diabetic after checking his urine.

I was working for a towing/transport company at the time. I went back to work there for a few more yrs. Ended up married then divorced. I was still unsure about many things back then. My main love is anything mechanical. I went into construction dealing with heavy equipment for 15 yrs. Now back in trucking doing my own thing this time.

Still not 100% how far or which direction I will end up at. Only that this will be my retirement in 10 yrs time. I do not plan to work after 60. My wife is also self employed and she is a workaholic. Has no plans to retire. So I'll kick back and be a house husband in 10 yrs.

    #### I didn't mean to start a war here ...and yes it's my truck with my name on the title and no I don't pull for a cheap mega , I pull a flat and if it's not comfortable to be in the truck with the engine off I run the dang thing !...but I don't feel the need to idle just to hear it run , and if I was in the bush somplace I probably wouldn't shut it off either , I guess I'm just a cheap sob .

I idle when it's really cold. I idle when my fan can't keep me cool enough. I also idle every so often on extended breaks to charge the batteries. Probably idle in a few other instances also.
