My wife and I run team, and are becoming a victim of second generation company ownership. We are looking for a change.

I've been told that Admiral Merchants has a good operation. I like the self dispatch option. We'd like to get our own authority one day, and this sounds like a great way to get our feet wet with a bit of a safety blanket (albeit at a 17% cost of revenue).

Has anyone used them? Anything I should know or watch out for? The reason for the new thread, and the biggest drawback that I can see is their inability to do interprovincial loads. Being Canadian this is a big problem. This means we can ONLY haul international freight. Are there any Canadian companies with a similar set up? Do you think no interstate or interprovincial freight is too large an issue to overcome?

I think you misunderstood their Canadian authority. No INTRA provincial authority (what their website says) means you couldn't pick up in Ontario and deliver in Ontario.

INTER provincial means you could pick up in Ontario and deliver to any other province.

That's how I read it anyway.

They're on my short list too because divorce is in the wind at the Ont. carrier I've been leased to for the last 14 yrs .
