If it's the fifthe wheel it has nothing to do with the grease. there is an adjustment that keeps th jaw tight around the pin or the jaw could be wrn out leaving too much slack. or the trailer pin may be worn but that is pretty rare. it could also be too much slack or worn parts in the fifth wheel slide rails or locking pins.
Ekkk! What was that!?

Every setback axle truck I drove in the last 31 years popped when you make a hard turn on not so level ground. Nothing but spring hangers. I've never lost anything (springs, shackles, axles) yet. NO WORRIES!!

I'm driving a 2014 day cab Mack and we drive allot of dirt road and when I take a turn I'll hear a single really loud pop noise from the back and when I take a slight merge off a road to shoulder causing a small lean to the truck it will also pop I DK what it is

You don't mention what kind of trailers you haul, so I'm gonna throw this out here. With our trucks at work when hauling container chassis, sometimes the 5th wheels are too far forward and the chassis (underside? not sure what it's called) rubs against the frame where the frame angles off between the 5th wheel slider and the tail lights when turning. This tends to be more of a bang, but could possibly be a pop in your case? We also occasionally gets suspension pops/bangs, but that could be just related to poor maintenance...happens on the tractors, and on the couple of Great Dane trailers they have
cnsper Thanks this. -
I had a popping noise when turning on my 379. I removed the front spring shackles and, replaced them with the outside in and the popping went away. Over the years the hanger and spring bushings wore a recess in the aluminum shackle and the popping was the bushing popping out of the recess when the shackle/spring flexed while turning.

So outside in,,,
You took right side to left and lrft to right? -
No sir, I kept them on the same side.
If you take them off and, the spring/bushing has worn into the aluminum shackle then flip them around (worn spot facing out).
Check your bushings first, if they are tight the spring wont pop out of the worn area so you could skip this all together.
My bushings were loose and that allowed a slight movement that led to the pop. -
Take some pictures of your spring hangers please, both sides and under, hang em here.
I betcha those springs are a touch tired. -
Thanks, getting it on the rack tomorrow and I will see. Tires have not wieghts on them, so i am getting beads put in. When up on rack plan on checking king pins, shackle bushings, and shocks.
More vibration then wieghts and that #### popping when you turn sharp.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Bad drag link and steers out of round. King pins and shackle bushing ok. Put on some centramatic, give them a try verses beads, or stick on wieghts.
