I know the mosfet upgrade wont yield 40 watts, I know that, you know that, most know that just trying to tell him what he whats to hear, real advice, its the placebo effect if he thinks he has a big radio doing 40+ then he does.

In my simple mind I thought there was plenty of solid advice here... but then I'm not a general class licensed ham like you. But as a long time CB'er my suggestion; if you wish to keep the attitude, is a $10 magnet mount rubber ducky sitting on the floor of your cab. At least the rest of us wont have to turn off our radios for your nonsense. This will also help, when asked to clean out your truck.
In my world, you ask a question and someone takes time out of their day to try and help, you thank them... And if their help is not, it is upon you to be more direct with the info you are asking.
1.59 swr isn't bad for factory, but since interior lights are lighting on keyup, I guess much of its loss is from coax within the truck. 8X is not that much more expensive than rg59, and ground wire / ends are minimal if your handy.
Everyone has a bad day, and this is not how you want to ask your first questions; you'll turn off all the wonderful, knowledgeable people here.
Best wishes
Dudeburnsey, darthanubis and wolverine11 Thank this. -
Just my two cents on perceived attitudes.. My first post on this board was adding a comment to a "How is Bells CB?" thread, where I said that the customer service I received during my purchase process was pretty good. The reply to that from an established member here was basically "The ignorant are easily pleased.." That's how I was welcomed here. Just sayin.

Did you get your new Galaxy yet I want to hear how it performs.
-
I did. I got it Friday and have it here in my truck but I want to take it to a shop to run the power wires to the battery and have the antenna tuned properly. I have the new antenna hooked to my 29 LX but am having a weird SWR spike only when the truck is running. I started a thread on it.
-
Also, I'm not pointing fingers to anyone on this thread, just stating my experience as a new member.
-
Well thats good you got it hope you get it hooked up soon as far as your swr thread I did see that but really dont have any educated input on that, good luck hope you get it resolved.
Evvy Thomas Thanks this. -
Thread got ridiculous fast. People are easily offended.
Ignorant just means lacking in knowledge or particular skill. It's not a slam, not something to be offended by or ashamed about.
I was ignorant of may things about two way radios, and learn by continuing to read and ask questions here.
BTW, the lights in a Prostar is not a ground issue. If you have a variable power knob, turn it all the way down and the lights stop coming on when you key up. I got out farther with my Prostar, one or two antennas than I do now on this Cascadia cophased so far.
Enjoy your hobbies.... Looking I into the Stryker 955. I just don't want a hack doing the conversion to open up 11 meters.
I want a Hardrive tuned radio.Evvy Thomas Thanks this. -
I was only trying to help out his situation from what Ive learned through trial and error over the last 20 years I guess when he asked that no one post recommending the option of keeping it stock, I should of granted him his wish and not posted my suggestion. Regret the fact that the thread went south, and ridiculous, by your assesment, in the future I will not include my input when it is not wanted.
darthanubis Thanks this. -
You didn't make it ridiculous.
