It's probably over 10 years ago now, but that's how the current Flying J at Beach, ND came to be. The old #### hole burned to the ground and they built a brand spanking new one on top of it.

The News report said it started in the Denny's and the employee's tried to put it out, but it got out of hand because of high wind's.

How could you suggest that the fire might be a way for Flying J to collect insurance money and rebuild? Jimmy Haslam is an exceedingly upstanding, moral, and ethical businessman.
LindaPV, Bean Jr., insertnamehere and 6 others Thank this. -
This is a common thought when a business fire occurs. I would imagine a business that large is self-insured to cover one location.

So, not enough fire hydrants. That's a wake up call for the city. Sounds like a problem to me.

Every so often I have breakfast with the retired guys at the local Cafe. One of them is a retired banker. He says you would not believe how much stuff ( cars, trucks, houses, business) catches fire just before payments are at the point they are past due. He says it is just amazing how often boats just sink at about the same time.passingthru69 and FerrissWheel Thank this.

Chances are he was somewhere in the crowd making s'mores while the place a was BBQing itself. Now I'm not quite sure, but somewhere in the background I thought I was hearing Johnny Cash singing "The Ring of Fire" , followed by this urban favorite: "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire! We don't need no water let the mother ****** burn!!" Burn mother ******,BURN!!!!"LindaPV Thanks this.

I'd figure that there would be more parking - no building taking up parking spaces...
