Friend has a D12 that's making oil. About 2 quarts every 1500 miles. What's the most common cause? Injector cups? or Injector itself?

One problem is this Bio Diesel, the 20 percent or higher versions are thin and get through the seals into the oil. That or an "O" ring problem with an injector.
The bio diesel issue is already online with the guys with pick up trucks having this issue. -
Just dealt with the same issue. I popped the valve cover and ran the engine the side of the injector 6 was pissing diesel out of it.
I replaced the injector had my mechanic program it and I was up and running in 5 hours. This was on a 12.7 Detroit but may be your issue too worth a look. It is pretty easy to get the VC off and look around.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
possible injector o ring as well or someone left injector loose. if it was a cup it would be making antifreeze and not oil. Probably one of the injectors is leaking under the valve cover.
