Cascadia dipole?

I guess my 26 mile local mobile-to-mobile contact on ch19 in northern IL was hallucination then...as must have been my 11 mile mobile-to-mobile contact in the mountains of northeast Alabama. Neither evening was the frequency particularly quiet, either.

 

Then there's the time I was taking right at the base of a 200 foot bluff to someone 8 miles north of said bluff, in northwest Alabama, with an improperly tuned barefoot Galaxy 939, using coax extended with a female to female adapter, and the lengths were not equal...oh, and I was using a mag mount.

Yeah, I just imagined that too.

 

Hey csw1818 you should definitely be able to tx and rx at least 5+ miles with no problem. I was using 10k with 27 inch shaft and just recently switched to a 5ft firestick, and I regularly tx and rx 10+ miles with either stock bearcat 980 or cobra 29 lx, both radios stock(modulation turned up) and put out legal 3.5 to 4 watt carrier.
