You are a cyborg driver. Part human, run like a machine. They love drivers like you. When you're away from the house, it's full on go until you go back home. Bring that A Game every day. Strong work ethics plus safe driver makes them wish they could clone you.
They might not tell you this, I found out because my dispatcher didn't know why I couldn't get a load. He had me call Safety. Safety tells me that I wasn't supposed to know about this, but they get concerned when a driver racks up too many miles. I asked him how many miles before they get concerned, and he told me more than 13000 a month and I was cranking over 17000. So they would start reviewing my logs to see if I was compressing the logs, but the GPS on the Qualcomm agreed with the logs. So what they would do is get the dispatchers to sort of drag their feet on loads to slow me down.
If that's the case, why don't I go home every 3rd week so they won't be so "concerned"? Well, we got audited by DOT and you guessed it, I ended up under a microscope. I kinda understand now (after the audit) why they were trying to keep my miles down. Anyways, I'd say that you probably have the same problem.

Right on, Toomanybikes. The part I didn't like was they resigned the Volvo when they had at least 15 power units sitting right there including the POS Cornbinder I got. It's what happens, one of the many things, that happens to company drivers in mega (listed on the stock exchange) truck companies.

I team drove for Werner and it was 5 days max then they take the truck but my dad and I didn't really stay home that much,I think 3 days was the longest. Once our dispatcher got us home at 11pm and said it was before midnight so it counted as a day then I explained a day home for us is a day completely free of being in a truck. You just have to put your foot down.
I also worked for J.B. Hunt and loved it but I told them 7 weeks before and kept reminding them that I was getting married and the night before I was 400 something miles away and waiting on a load and almost out of hours. I bobtailed home and made it just in time. As a driver you have to choose how much you'll deal with about home time because hey,we do this for the ones we leave.Starboyjim Thanks this. -
By the way, "too much home time," that's an oxymoron. How can there be too much?
I now think of myself as "Yoyo man." When I'm home, I want to go out. When I'm out, I can't wait to get back home. -
Starboyjim Thanks this.

Looking for a new gig, right, JC?
JC1971 Thanks this. -
Lol Marcus Anderson from Werner or Taylor from JB? I had it out with both of them,Marcus wouldn't let us get the optimized idle fixed so we froze in winter and Taylor gave me short runs with no drop pay and had me sitting a lot. But it was worth it to set boundaries, now I'm not working and looking to move up in the world by adding endorsements and getting away from dry van because 2 bad jobs and one that was good but turned bad in 3 years isn't ok. I want to find that sticking place
