If they had a position like that where I live, I'd jump on that in skinute (which is less than a minute) unless the customer he is contracted to is a short term deal and there isn't something else in place if it were to come to a quick end.

Kinda what i was thinking. I'm told the customers he has in my area are long time customers that he has multi year contacts with.

Back after the first of the year I decided to update my resume on Indeed.com. Since then I've gotten several emails from small companies offering me a position driving for them. Some have been really horrible deals such as 40cpm on a 1099, another was 36cpm on a w2 and home every other day, to a couple offering 26% home daily but that one had some shady work around to meet their requirements that I just wasn't willing to entertain.

Then I got an offer from a guy who has 6 trucks and 8 owner ops that hauls dry van. The guy is looking to hire on 2 more drivers for his contract customers that he has in my area. Be regional, (driving past my house almost daily) around Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Pa, West VA and Michigan with the occasional run down to Tennessee and Illinois. Hes offering 30% of the load, paper logs for the time being, 11 paid holidays regardless if Im on the road or at the house, 100% paid for health, dental, and vision. Even told me that we can work out a deal to get my insurance started sooner rather than waiting the usual 90 days. The insurance coverage's are exceptionally nice, and have lower deductibles with better coverage's than what I have at builders. He doesn't offer a 401k, but my wife and I both have IRA's that we contribute to monthly. All of his trucks are pre emission trucks, and he just bought a 2004/5 VNL650 and a 2003 Columbia from a KW dealer in Tennessee. Says I have the choice of what truck I want. the VNL650 is a 13speed with a series 60 recently rebuilt, and the Columbia is a 10 speed cummins. I would assume its an N14. I told my dad about this offer so he called the guy and my dad has decided hes going to take the offer, he says its better than anything hes ever heard of.

Im seriously considering it. If the deal on the insurance alone is correct, then thats like a $200 a week raise for me.

Where is he based out of ? And is indeed.com the only link to him. We'll I guess you don't want to give it away until you are in. I know I've gone indeed before. Maybe it's time to update mine. I just hate when JB , AND CRETE start bugging me.

Make sure it's not 30% of the net of what the truck makes. That would suck tremendously!!!

It should be 30%of the gross revenue based on his 100% not including the fuel surcharge.

Sounds like he's a businessman trying to make a go of it. Have lots of conversations with him. Ask other drivers' opinions and watch their body language.

You can get wrapped around the axle "running the numbers," so I recommend going with your gut. Then make a decision. Any company can be good and any company can be miserable.
