X-Ray cargo scanner at Port

Every time I've been xrayed at the border they either have me get out of the truck or they only scan the trailer.

 

Just don't get angry afterwards.

 

They always xrayed sleeper on back with me. But then i set of radiation alarms to. Hauling potash.

 

X-Rays are X-Rays. Pretty sure they don't turn it on until your truck is through. On the rare occasion I wind up at the port near me they don't have the permanent ones, they have the 2 truck setup and Thiers a light so I know I'm not getting nuked

 

Exactly.

The major difference is in how much energy is used to produce the desired results. When you get an x-ray on your body, it's pretty safe since the machine uses a relatively small amount of energy since human flesh is easy to penetrate. When you need to be able to penetrate steel or other dense materials, the energy need rises as well.
However, even with the increased energy needs, you are still only exposed to a relatively small amount of energy, generally around (or less than) 0.1MeV (Mega electron volt) per scan.

 

Those scanners in the pic may be radiation sensors also
