How big of an accident do you plan on having????
FMCSA only requires $750,000 primary liability coverage, but most shippers/brokers require $1,000,000 to load you. The most common request for cargo is $100,000, but this would depend on what you’re hauling and who you are hauling for.paulpost Thanks this. -
They can't come after what you don't have, and if you have it, they will go after all of it. Don't give them any more then they'd have been satisfied with. This is one of the benefits of being an "approved company driver". Use it.

I cannot say I ever heard of any such additional insurance. If you do get into an accident, yes, for sure, you can be sued in civil court, after most likely any lawsuit brought on by the plaintiff against your company.
What I'd highly suggest, is that you become a member of the OOIDA, and pay your yearly dues. Then IF there should ever be a lawsuit against you, simply contact OOIDA and they can provide the names of lawyers in the state you WILL need one for, rather than you be asking "who do I call"?
Otherwise, don't sweat it. Join and rest easy.nofilter Thanks this. -
does not make sens.
No company driver should ever need to carry their own liability insurance and if any company tells you otherwise, run away and find a new company.
