feedback when keying mic

You can get a 15 pack of adhesive velcro squares at Pilot for about $3. 4 or 6 of them will keep the radio firmly planted on the dash.

 

Oh Im sure the manufactures of the radios use it as a selling point but I was always under the impression that it was to listen to different mics. Lately with hardly anyone using the radio anymore, you end up talking to yourself so why not turn on talkback and pretend you are having a conversation.

 

Well for drivers that do choose to use echo have you ever tried to get an on air ,honest response of how it sounds. Some drivers like to hear alot of echo and will tell you it sounds good, and other drivers cant stand it and if they hear the slightest amount they will tell you it sounds like crap, so asking another driver to tell you if the echo is ok is about as worthless as asking for a radio check. So once again, just my understanding, if i did choose to use echo I pretty much find out what it sounds like going out whether there is a little distortion in signal quality that I cant hear on talkback, Im just trying to hear the amount of echo and the delay. Now that I have mentioned the almighty " Radio Check" I cant believe that 99.9% of the responses is" its working" those two words tell the operator absolutely nothing except that his radio is working and I think he or she already knows that. Maybe elaborate a bit and say loud and clear, modulation kind of low, something along those lines to give the operator some constructive feedback, just my 2 cents.

 

You're expecting an awful lot from many that pee In a jug and toss the jug out their window. Poop in a bag and drop it in a lot then drive away. Park on the end in a self made spot then call the driver that rip his hood off a jerk , or goes throu gh the lot at 30mph , and take the hood off the truck on the end parked in a legit spot.

 

Best way to get a decent radio check is listen for a CB shop advertising his exit number as you're making you way toward him 15 miles out give him a shout ask him how he's receiving ya. I talked just the other day to the guy out there in Tn 42 mm on 40 , yellow caboose as a CB shop he heard me at the 22 just heading east out of Bartlett. And we talked as I was getting to the 50. At 14 miles out he said I was doing real good. He goes by swamp dog , give him a holler , he'll be strai gh t with ya.
