Thanks Jaso, and everyone else, yea i forgot to mention im not gonna do lease, been self employed last 7 years, and dont wanna deal with that stuff at this time in my life. One day, i may entertain the thought, but i need to learn the industry first. Been parcticing my backings , and doing great on em ,ill test out next week prolly on that. Using old Freightluners w 1million miles on em ,old beaters. Finally got to drive the new (2009 with 46k miles) volvo bobtail to learn up/downshifting on the track today. Its a mile and a half. Wow!! That truck is quick w no trailer !! Lol. Everyone passed pretrip tests so now we get to actually hwy drive. Gotta have 1000 miles logged. Thx guys
gntorres61 and jaso37 Thank this. -
Equipment is awesome. Like someone else said Dont do the lease. I was a lease op for 3 months before i left TA. I choose my own route. As far as the route i was able to choose my own but made sure i hit my fuel solution so i got the best discount. Dispatch is pretty good untill you deal with Night/Weekend then its a whole new ball game. Breakdown is easy to deal with.

Some companies have the pay per mile lease. If you don't drive any miles you don't pay anything.gntorres61 Thanks this.

A couple of practical matters: If they put you up at the Holiday Inn, ask for a fridge if your room does not already have one. They will deliver it to your room no charge. Keep the hotel WiFi password and collect a couple of extra breakfast coupons. I would sometimes bobtail to that Holiday Inn and camp out in a back corner of the lot instead of the TransAm yard. Faster WiFi, more quiet and then get breakfast in the morning.Panhandle flash, HometimeQueen and cbman455 Thank this.

In KC tonight. I get to have dinner with my cousin who just got married. Then up to Ia for a load with 2 stops in the LA area. Taking the southern route, tired of snow and road closures.
gntorres61, cbman455 and passport220 Thank this. -
In Albuquerque taking the southern route to Cali too much wind on 80. Nice and warm here. Maybe shorts tomorrow.
