Ok finally got parked. Did you buy a new crank? If you want to run an Acert waterpump you will have to get all the front gear train off an Acert or 6nz or mbn. The pump is a straight cut gear teeth as is all the other gears. Your 5ek has helic cut gears. (Teeth are cut at an angle)

    SAR Thanks this.

The cam gear will work.from your 5ek. If you don't want to do all that swapping the pump that goes on the 5ek will do just fine if you don't pull alot of weight like I do.if you decide to stay with the 5ek gear train you will have to swap the drive gear on the crank with the 5ek gear.

    SAR Thanks this.

Got the block tore down except for the crank and front and rear structures. I'll get that off tonight and drop the block off at the machine shop tomorrow. All parts are on order.

Yeah I could probably do that. It'll be a few days until I get everything in to get started but I'll try and snap my progress

image.jpeg I'm interested to see how a big diesel is assembled. This is my background. Off road. Built this car myself.

That Looks like a lot of fun. It's pretty much the same. Just bigger tools, heavier hoists, and higher torque bolts but you will use the same cuss words in either build. It's like anything else you learn. It's great to have a good coach with a good reputation to get your confidence and experience up.

If going that deep I'd deck block rather than cut counterbores

I'm sure that's what they'll do. Told them to get it checked out and do whatever you need. A nice older lady owns the shop. Her and her husband ran it for years but he passed awhile back and she's keeping it going. A smart lady that knows more than I could ever dream about block work
