Why do people needlessly idle ?

^^^ This doesn't look like a company driver, bz. . . one heck of a pretty Pete, and I drive a similar. (Smaller,) but that's a beauty. And yeah, I idle. Don't make any less for it. We all have our comfort zones, I reckon.

I can burn about 3/4 of gallon, if I idle all night long....
People that love $ too much will never have enough of it, ..... if I had to count how many pennies I saved on something like this, there's a problem

 

I have a espar bunk heater, as popular as they might be it tends to drain the batteries to a point of automatic shut down. I've had the system checked by a shop only to hear they recommend idling after 5 hours of use.

 

I idle more often than not--our company doesn't have an idle policy. They don't have many policies come to think of it--just get the loads in on time!

I would idle less when it's colder out but I've found that the bunk heater is way too hot and there is no way to control the heat. Apparently the volvos have the temp guage located on the outside of the cabin and the heat adjusts accordingly. If it's too hot, I can't sleep. Or it will be a fitful one at best. Having just the ambient heat from the truck running is the perfect temp for me and I sleep thru the night.

A drowsy driver is a deadly driver.

Oh...and I always travel with my dog. I've been told that having her onboard negates the no idling laws in those states with such laws. I haven't had any problems thus far.
