O.K. let's see what everyone thinks. I'm looking at going with a company sponsored CDL training program. I need some truthful and honest answers on companies hiring out of Florida. Whether they be good or bad. Covenant, Werner, P.A.M., Allied Freight Services, etc. Which way do I run and which ones do I run from???

The worst part about living in Florida is the lack of choice. I hear Werner sucks, and Cov isn't too far behind them. I see good things about PAM and I think they drive autos. Again, all hear/say. I'd say my two choices in Florida would be Roehl and Prime.

Oh, and come to think of it, I haven't heard a bad word yet about CFI.

Not bad, but Roehl said they couldn't hire me from here, ???, and a few people I've talked to, say to stay away from Prime. I guess everyone got an opinion on each carrier, I just don't want to get stuck. Now P.A.M. is still on the top of my list, C.F.I./ Conway I'm keeping on my radar, as well as U.S.A. truck, Averitt is a consideration too, with their guaranteed home every weekend ad. The local terminal for Averitt is only 15 min. away for me and is tempting, but I hear they are low in miles. If I'm gonna drive, then LET ME DRIVE!!! LOL. I don't need to be out for 3,4,5, weeks at a time, but I know the miles are where the money's at. Thanks my fellow Floridian! KEEP 'EM COMING!!!

I didn't even know Averitt hired new drivers. I don't think I would want to wear a uniform out here though. I have heard this and that about Prime, and as of late its been more positive. Roehl has some strange hiring areas. Of the five people that started with me, only myself and a guy from PA actually gave their real address to get hired. The others had one to please Roehl. Like I said, you'll be hard pressed to find anything bad said about CFI or PAM.

Yeah, Averitt will if you go through Driver Solutions. Prime's still iffy for me. As for Reohl, I believe it. Thanks again Doc, I think it's most likely going to be PAM. I'll let you know.

I don't have any experience with the carriers mentioned, but I would seriously reconsider Averitt.

If they have a terminal that close to you it could be very advantageous!

Really? Have you bothered to read anything about them?

How about their drivers forum? (other website)....where it was blantantly pointed out, you could lose your job, be sued, or other choice things. For running your fingers/mouth on the web.

I think they have a good training program for the beginning driver. But after the honeymoon...it's all downhill.
