Actual Miles

    Okay I need to Chine in.
    Why are we getting upset about what miles is posted? This is the same system that's incapable of letting you quarterly tests on your own laptop lol.
    Schneider posts the revenue of the load, the city it picks up in and delivers.
    Take those cities and your current city.. plug them into mapquest, google maps etc.. pick your own route and figure out your own actual miles.
    Doing so you'll only be off by a few miles depending upon what side of town the customer is at.
    Schenider has those "estimated rates per mile" and etc as a convenience to get a general idea when searching for loads, doesn't mean you should solely rely on that.

    I bought a loaf of bread yesterday at walmart, today went to go make myself a sandwich (because the wifey ain't here to make it) and its got mold on it already. Thats the real problem here.

    Not true at all. They use HHMG zip to zip vs PC Miler practical address to address. This is how rates are calculated by contact with all shippers by a uniform measure . The shortest route isn't the fastest most practical truck friendly route. If the difference is 10% on a 500 mile run that pays two dollars a mile that is 100 dollars short but

    SNI would argue that by writing the rates with HHMG they get more freight , and less loads for you if they bid practical

    You misunderstood what i wrote.
    I didn't mention anything about billing with customers and etc.
    I was talking about running your own operation, figuring out your own rate per mile and not to rely on what miles Schneider has posted.

    I think you're saying decide if the shoe fits and decide if the shortest route works . What the OP is saying is that zip to zip you're always going to give free labor especially in large metros . Trucking is one of the last industries that earns piece rate so I understand the debate although I see the pros and cons both sides ,

    What i care about is my rate to the truck for the miles i drive. If it's too low i dont do it. If the shorteast movers guide rate sucks, the actual rate will suck too lol

    Paid 50 more miles at fifty cents less would negate the short mileage argument
