I've applied here, Universal Truckload Services, and Crete Carrier. I'll be buying my own truck and becoming an owner-op. Trying to find out more about FedEx Custom Critical. All I know at this point is it's $1.50/mi loaded and $1.00/mi empty + $0.20/mi Fuel Surcharge. All 48 States + Canada & Mexico.

Are there any other owner-ops here, that can tell me more about their job? Is there usually enough freight to do 3,000/mi or more per wk? Any other info you think I should know going in, would be appreciated, whether it's Pros or Cons. Thanks

Well numbers are a little high you have their...

We have an avg about 550 miles loaded, 250 miles empty per load... we are a team..

Last week 1598 miles loaded, 3,798 truck revenue...

FedEx custom critical is definitely not the place to make a lot of money.. the first warning sign is they have a lot of driver relations people.. if the drivers were happy why would they need any?

Also look at the turn-over rate, each orientation is about 30-60 people, twice a week...

They pit all costs onto the driver (if your late they fine you 25% of the rate).. if you ever chose to leave, would cost you (removal of qualcomm, graphics, repaying the sign on if you leave within the first year) ect ect..

You would be better off signing on with landstar, or Schneider

Thank you Reaper_Trucking. I've actually signed onto Crete Carrier in January. I love it so far, they are so much better than the 1st 2 companies I've worked for. I definitely recommend Crete to others (at least as an owner-op, I haven't tried being a company drvr here)
