Most 07's had 06 engines in them, NXS is the last good Cat.

Ok. Is the ACERT, bridge engine any good? I haven't heard good things (haven't heard bad except from Bruce, either) about engines after 6NZ.

Bridge motor is good with some software changes. The Acert is a good engine, even better with some computer enhancements.

I run a bridge motor. If you're buying one with the right upgrades it's just as good as a 6NZ. Bullet proof. For me to buy another truck that had one as the original set up again, it would have to be a really nice truck. It cost about $4,000 on the low end to make a bridge motor right.

Stick with hauling crude. How many outside contractor s is your company using now? How bought two years ago? Rates are still down and oil is down.

Two years ago this company made the switch from hauling for mbi out of ND to to hauling direct for the marketer down in Wyoming. When I started I was hourly at 35/hr +ot and per diem. I'm now percentage, but I moved my wife out here and I am home nearly every night. Rates have tanked but without a middle man it's still decent. I generally gross a truck 120-150/hr.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I've decided for now to retain my job and continue my goal of being debt free. If I can own my house by the time I'm 35 I'll have nothing in life to worry about. So, 5ish more years of this and then I can figure out what I really want to do...unless things tank really bad but I think I've been through the worst of it for now.

I think that's a wise decision, if I could make 120k as a company man I'd sell my truck in a heartbeat

Milk that 120k as long as you can. Many a good man has gone broke trying to do this owner operator thing. Some succeed most fail.

debt free is the way to go. That is the only way, not to be a slave for someone or something

RERM, rollin coal, 2k4_8 and 1 other person Thank this.
