There some dishonest companies and some honest ones as well. They are not all as described by moglar. I'm sure the problems he ( moglar ) described have happened. But that does not apply to all or every company. I suggest to pick a company, hire on as a company driver and experience their operation. Talk to their owner-operators and lease purchase contractors. Find out how many L/P drivers completed their lease purchase and own their truck with clear title in their name. How many stay with the company after they an their truck. That's what I did. I lease purchased two Centuries from May Trucking. One after the other, not two at the same time. Both lease purchases were competed on time. The Century in my avatar picture was the second one. I have a photo copy of clear Oregon title in my name for each truck. It wasn't easy. Trucking is very competitive. You have to be efficient. Stay focused. You can be successful.

I know quite a few people at May. Some are pretty good friends of mine. In fact, I know a couple of guys who had the same black Centuries.

Yeah, I guess my question more or less revolved around taking a lease purchase job just to make more money than a company driver and not caring so much about actually owning the truck.

I am curious if that way of thinking is wrong or bad or not feasible. I suppose, logic would tell me that if they were all paying 1500 a week, there would be no more company drivers.

Bing bing bing... Exactly... Hmmm, if everyone could make $1500 a week leasing why would any company positions exist? @CluelessRoadie your one of the few smart ones...

I've always said if primes leasing was so great how come a waiting list doesn't exist? Hmmmmmmmm. Not only prime ANY company????

Don't worry the herd will be here calling me a Troll...

A friend of mine and I went L/P at the same company, we both came from the same previous employer. He makes less as a L/P driver than he did at our old company and is still paying for his truck, I made more as a L/P driver than at the old company and have now paid off my truck which means I now make a lot more than I did. Bottom line, it is working better for me than him but neither one of us plans on going back to company driver, there is a lot to be said about freedom. You have to be very careful about getting into a L/P deal though, way too many of them are set up to screw the driver and make the company more money, but there are a few good ones out there

Lol @ Prime millionaires . Now that fuels dropped they can't play the surcharge game so well , beating the pay for 6 by going 63 and making extra money with the 8. I know it's gotta be killing a lot of them . I know what rates are like , been at it a minute , picked and dropped all the same places . There is no magical Prime rate that's gonna make then rich

That's great... To many companies try and push the lease onto new drivers right out the gate... It's to much... Having to responsibility of running a truck as a company sole and being on time is a lot for many... A lot of the new drivers now days aren't used to the discipline and think driving as a cit and dry job with a big pay check... It's not the case...
