A stinger board

    Is anyone familiar with one of these , they are similar to an external amp if I'm not mistaken even have a switch added on radio so you can turn on when required .

    Ad-203 stinger board another approach rather than installing an Rfx-85

    I wouldn't recommend one.It is class c biased, no good for SSB, and it will put added stress on the power supply inside the radio plus extra heat.
    I would recommend an external amplifier instead.

    This is one thing I find, it gets scrapped.

    I had a 29 a while ago I got at a garage sale, didn't really think to open the thing up but it go really hot when I was using it so I pulled the case bottom off and there one of these things sat, out it came. No more heat problem.
