feedback when keying mic

I can't remember the last time I pulled into a truck stop, much less slept in one. (In the truck that is; I stop at them all the time when traveling in the four-wheeler.) I'll take my Wal-Mart parking lot any day!

 

Me too exactly , I shower on the fly mid day and sleep strategically where my truck is safe , imo sleeping in a truck stop is equal to sleeping 50 ft from the RxR tracks , that sounds the horn every 45minutes. Screw both

 

Most walmarts also have free WiFi that's very fast.

 

The best way to get a radio check is asking a ham operator how the audio sounds, or ask someone with Crystal Clear audio that knows how their radio sounds how your radio sounds. If Asking a guy with muffled or distorted audio how your radio sounds if he says it's good then it means you are distorted and unintelligible like him and if he says it's weak then chances are it sounds good.

 

I'd keep that under your hat. Many have stopped overnight parking already. If their parking lots start filling up all the time, and the mandatory trash on the ground that accompanies anywhere truck drivers park subsequently increases, there will be a bunch more of them put up the overhead beams to keep the trucks out. Or, like a lot of cities, pass ordinances banning overnight parking........even for us WalMart drivers! (thread hi-jack over)

 

Sure enough when new walmart opened up in Bradenton Fl on sr 64 about 10 years ago, trucks were allowed to park, which was good for carriers going to tropicana, but it didnt take too long before the "PIGS" of the industry trashed the lot and the county banned it, darn shame.
