And you can use approved brokers . At 85 percent . So you can keep working that too , FEDEX doesn't tie you to their company . They have a whole back haul division

We are not friends. You do not know me at all. For all you know I could tell you anything and make it sound like rose petals.

In my opinion, I dont feel you are looking for advise,.. you want someone to hold your hand and tell you what to do. I dont do that. Others here will be happy to tell you where should go and who to work for. To me personally,.. one company is as bad as the other. You must learn how not to fall into the traps these carriers set out for O/O's. I look at them like a used car salesman. They want to sell a car and profit as much as they can with little to no regard to you, your family, or how well the car will serve you or your family. Why buy a car that you dont need or want?

Despite your frustration,.. I hope you got a small insight to help you along. It was not my intention to insult you.

Obviously conversing any farther will only inflame and insult you more. So I am out.

    Best of luck to you,

    Hurst

I give up. No thanks on the hand holding. If that's what you got out of everything that was discussed than you're worse than I thought. Don't worry about it. I'm through conversing with an overly egotistical something or another anyway. Deuces.

Do a Google search for DOT numbers and ICC/MC numbers. One company would get you everything (IFTA, DOT, 2290, drug test consortium etc etc) for like $1500. There are a few permit services advertising package deals like that. The ICC/MC takes 6 to 8 weeks or something and there is no temporary authorization. Be careful though, when you cut out the carriers you are leased to, you should have at least 2 months of running money put away. Expect 30 days for payment. Some may pay faster but usually pay less. If that won't work, search this site for freight factoring. Companies will forward you payment for a percentage of the revenue. Good luck

I forgot to add something else. If you are not yet, you should definitely incorporate. This will allow you to keep your business and personal finances separate. Basically, if your husband gets into an accident you won't lose your house. There are numerous different types of incorporations that I will not get into right now. Also, pay close attention to insurance coverages required by shippers as well. If you are pulling their trailer you are usually covered by their insurance. If their freight is loaded into your trailer, you will need full on liability/cargo etc. Go to OOIDA's website. If you don't know, that is the Owner Operator Independent Driver Association. They are an excellent resource for all things trucking. Keep the rubber side down.

Thanks again. Yes I am looking into a membership for OOIDA as well as a factoring company to get the ball rolling. I'm ready for all that comes with starting a company, I just had to do more digging. This will definitely help. I appreciate your time driver. Catch you on the flip side! :)
