What is the maximum distance anyone has transmitted from a Freightliner Cascadia without skip conditions?

    TheDude1969 and darthanubis Thank this.

Whoever transmitted the maximum distance out of that type of truck I'm sure lots of people in this forum will have lots of questions for you.

I barely got 5 miles in front of me with a 7ft Firestik. Barefoot peaked Galaxy 959. Drivers side mount, stainless steel cascadia perch. The mount is from diesel and may be aluminum. 18ft of high grade coax. All less that six months old. The antenna, cable and mounts are new. The last picture is a SS mount but it failed due to not holding because it had no teeth to bite the perch. Looking to replace the diesel mount with a high grade SS one with teeth, hoping for better results. Other than that, I don't know how else to duplicate thread incredible reports of 10 mile Rx/TX barefoot.

I would probably try wrappping some stainless steel wool around that perch to give the bracket something to bite into to hopefully eliminate some of the slippage other than that it's a nice bracket and nice stud. You can also try taking a grinder to the perch and grinding a flat spot on it to prevent slippage

Yeah the perch is awesome. It's just the disassembled mount that failed slipped under the pressure of high winds at highway speeds. If the heavy duty mount had teeth then I wouldn't suspect any part of my antenna system as the weak link. But the steel wool sounds like a plan.

15 miles, from Zephyrhills Fl to base station in Plant city Fl, using Galaxy 99v2 with 10k attenna with 27 inch shaft. The receiving station said his needle was not moving but he could hear me fine. With the same attenna and Bearcat 980 and Cobra 29NW Ltd classic about 8 to 10 miles to a friends base station in Bradenton FL from Sysco foods in Palmetto Fl. From truck to truck out here on the road about 6 miles with Bearcat 980 and 10 miles with Galaxy 99v2.

Assuming stock receiver sensitivity on base station, that would probably be pretty comparable To me driving 15 miles away from you and being able to hear you talking mobile to mobile.

Plus his attenna in Plant city is like 60 ft up and my friend in Bradenton is like 30 ft up Im sure that helped bringing me in to their receive.

    darthanubis Thanks this.

Darthanubis, I dont know what to tell you, your setup is about identical to mine, wilson mirror bracket with perch, wilson attenna bracket with gum drop, 18 ft wilson mini 8 coax, and 5ft firestick( was using 10k with 27 inch shaft previously) barefoot unmolested Bearcat 980 and I have no problem tx and rxing 6 miles on average.
